Modern Technology And How They Existed In The Biblical Era
Modern technology and how they existed in the biblical era
Praises be to the Creator of heaven and earth, whose mighty works have been a source of inspiration to his human creation whom he gave the brain and the ability to further improve his works. What you think exists as modern technology today existed in certain forms in the past. This write up shows modern technology and how they existed in the biblical era.
1. The tablet gadgets
This is a modern technology currently dazzling the world with its amazing features. The days of pressing keypads inorder to type something on, or control an electronic device is fast disappearing. These days, a single swipe on the device's screen does the magic. You can draw pictures and write a text of thousand words without using an ink. This amazing tool is made by technology giants like samsung, apple, techno etc. While we shower praises on the ingenuity of the tool and on those that have their names branded on it, let us not forget that Someone did something of that nature centuries ago, in the time of the first world power. That person is God almighty, when He wrote to Moses on two carved stones called tablets. The bible recorded that he wrote on those tablets using his fingers, something quite similar to how we write on our modern day tablets.
Exodus 31:18 NLT
“When the LORD finished
speaking with Moses on
Mount Sinai, he gave him
the two stone tablets
inscribed with the terms of
the covenant, written by
the finger of God.”
2. Microphone
Since my years of living, I've never come across a writing, other than the bible, that spoke of anyone communicating with nothing less than 5000 people at a time with everyone of them hearing him clearly without the use of an audibility device. This act was done by Christ on several occassion where he spoke to the multitude. On a certain occassion, he fed 5000 people who followed him just to hear him speak. It could be that Christ and his disciples had great vocal chords to have been able to get their voice across to thousands or maybe it was simply a miracle done by them. Today, no one is interested in joing a multitude because of a man whose voice they won't be able to hear when he speaks in the midst of a crowd without a microphone. The audibility device in its various forms e.g microphone, when powered and connected to loud speakers, gives a sound which is far more greater than the ordinary. It makes it possible for a single man's voice to be heard while speaking in a stadium crowded to its full capacity.
3. Weapon of mass destruction
Hollywood movies today depict super heroes who have the ability to kill hundreds to thousands of men at once. Even though those are fictions, a certain man existed in the bible who had the ability to kill at that rate. His name is Samson. The bible recorded that Samson killed a thousand philistines at a go using a donkey's jawbone.
Judges 15:15
“Samson glanced around and spotted the
jawbone of a donkey. The jawbone had not
yet dried out, so it was still hard and heavy.
Samson grabbed it and started hitting
Philistines--he killed a thousand of them!”
Such a bone would have been described as a weapon of mass destruction had it been it exists in today's world. The ones we have today are bombs and guns of all kinds that can kill thousand in the twinkle of an eye. When Samson died, he took the life of more philistines along with his, more philistines than he killed before that period. Such can be compared to today's suicide bombers who strap themselves up with explosives and activate it when they are in the midst of a crowd.
4. Submarine
Unlike ships that travel on the surface of water, the submarine is a sea vessel built to enable man travel under water. It is usually used to spy on enemy territory because of its ability to evade visibility. Its appearance is like that of a giant whale. Man can't experience long hours under water without the full kit of a diver. With submarines, one doesn't need to dress up like a diver to spend days under water. You can simply put on your party clothes while under water in a submarine. The bible recorded that Jonah spent 3 days and 3 nights in the belly of a great fish.
Jonah 1:17
“Now the lord had prepared a great fish to swallow Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.”
I believe the design of the submarine was inspired by the account of Jonah and the great work of the Almighty. Without God creating the fishes, man won't have discovered that living under water could be possible.
Well, that's all I can think of for now. Do read your bible, as I believe there are many more acts in it that are begging for someone to draw inspiration from e.g our Lord Yeshua walking on water and also turning water to wine, Moses parting the red sea, balaam's talking donkey etc.
