Worldly Acts In Today's Churches

Can we really called today's worship houses churches? Do they still keep to the commandments of Christ our saviour who laid his life for us? Below are a list of worldly acts in the church today.

1. Political Campaign ground

The 2015 general elections in Nigeria showed how lost the church has become as it now dines with the world which it's not supposed to be part of. The church clearly showed how much of a political campaign ground it has become when former president goodluck jonathan was seen touring different auditoriums, from RCCG to Winner's chapel to the Lord's chosen where he addressed the crowd from the pulpit and strategically campaigned for a re-election. One thing people don't know is that politics is of the devil cos he was given this world to rule for a short period. Christians mingling with politicians is an unholy alliance that God frowns at. But today, pastors hold political posts and dine with politicians as we have in the likes of vice president yemi osinbajo and pastor ayo oristejafor.

2. Worldly concerts

When I first heard that the musician called Korede bello performed his hit single "Godwin" in a church called Harvest International Christian Centre, I wasn't amazed but troubled as to how deep christendom has plunged itself into worldliness. I don't know when God complained to them that He's short of musicians or songs that they had to go borrow from the dark kingdom.

2 corinthians 6:14

Do not be yoked together
with unbelievers. For what
do righteousness and
wickedness have in
common? Or what
fellowship can light have
with darkness?

Maybe the organisers were decieved by the title of the song, I don't know. But I strongly believe they wanted to attract a large crowd to the event using the singer's influence as a market strategy. It's just so sad that they forgot that christ said he will raise up stones to praise him if no human shows up to do so.
I was invited to a branch of the redeemed christian church of God at iju where I saw one half of a nigerian music duo called artquake among the choir. He even performed with them as he took a solo verse that had him singing raggae like a jamaican rasta man. I was confused when I saw him there again the following sunday but concluded it could be that he has changed to a new creation. Few weeks later, I saw a new video of artquake featuring oritsefemi on TV with him singing worldly verses. Can the authorities at the church tell me they don't know how wordly this guy is to allow him minister to the congregation?

3. Business empires

2 corinthians 2:17

You see, we are not like the
many hucksters who
preach for personal profit.
We preach the word of God
with sincerity and with
Christ's authority, knowing
that God is watching us.

What we have today are pastorpreneurs and charlatans. The church of today has veered away from it's calling of preparing people for the kingdom of God to building kingdoms for itself on earth where the thief breaketh and the moth eateth. Many churches in Nigeria now run several chains of businesses like universities, housing estates, private jets and many more. These facilities can never be for the poor so long Christ never set up his church for such purposes. These churches now take pride in the amount of branches they have and not in the amount of helpless people they take care of.

4. Segregation

When viewing from a racial point, this can be observed in pastor T.B joshua's synagogue church of all nations. This church clearly sets the whites apart from the blacks in a manner that sees them sit in a VIP-styled front row seats while the blacks are seated way behind them. It even gets worse when you realise that the whites are foreigners in the land. In other churches, their own manner of segregation has to do with the rich and the connected seated in front while the ordinary man gets to sit far behind them. Most of the seats in front are usually paid for by those who can afford it, usually the rich. Apostle Paul frowned at the idea that wanted to treat the gentiles less than the jews or one human less than another.

Galatians 3:28

There is neither Jew nor
Gentile, neither slave nor
free, nor is there male and
female, for you are all one
in Christ Jesus.

This shows that the early church was a place where the low and the high were regarded as equal before Yahweh with no form of segregation.

5. Brand names

Have you tried flipping through the pages of the bible to see whether you'll come across the name of any church? I can bet it that you'll never find one. The closest you can get are phrases like the church in ephesus, the church in corinth etc. The congregation then used locations to distinguish the churches. It's similar to you having your company's branches in new york and chicago. To distinguish them, you say the branch in new york or the branch in chicago. This doesn't change them from being under that company. But when they are separate companies, you call them by their separate names. Today's churches are separate from what christ established. They all have different names, names like RCCG, Winner's chapel, foursquare, Lord's chosen etc. They all claim to belong to the body of christ, but christ's body is not divided but one bearing his name and doing his will. This explains why they all have contradicting doctrines and consumed by worldliness with logos and symbols differentiating them. Was it so in the time of the early apostles? No.

Before you go ahead to discredit the above write up, try to do some research about it. Read your bible and stop relying on what those so-called men of god told you. You can read the bible or surf the internet to see how the early apostles lived their life. You'll see how much today's churches have gone off track.
