Prophets Of Baal And Today's Pastors

Have you ever wondered why people are often made to scream at the top of their voice when praying to God? This is usually done in christendom at the orders of its various pastors and prophets. This write-up will take a look at how certain people prayed in the bible, the results they got and the reasons why pastors of today are no different from prophets of baal.

Read this beautiful account:

1 kings 18:16-39

So Obadiah went to Ahab and told him where Elijah was. Then Ahab went to meet Elijah. When he saw Elijah, he asked, “Is it you— the biggest troublemaker in Israel?” Elijah answered, “I have not made trouble in Israel. You and your father’s family have made all this trouble by not obeying the LORD’s commands. You have gone after the Baals. Now tell all Israel to meet me at Mount Carmel. Also bring the four hundred fifty prophets of Baal and the four hundred prophets of Asherah, who eat at Jezebel’s table.” So Ahab called all the Israelites and those prophets to Mount Carmel. Elijah approached the people and said, “How long will you not decide between two choices? If the LORD is the true God, follow him, but if Baal is the true God, follow him!” But the people said nothing. Elijah said, “I am the only prophet of the LORD here, but there are four hundred fifty prophets of Baal. Bring two bulls. Let the prophets of Baal choose one bull and kill it and cut it into pieces. Then let them put the meat on the wood, but they are not to set fire to it. I will prepare the other bull, putting the meat on the wood but not setting fire to it. You prophets of Baal, pray to your god, and I will pray to the LORD. The god who answers by setting fire to his wood is the true God.” All the people agreed that this was a good idea. Then Elijah said to the prophets of Baal, “There are many of you, so you go first. Choose a bull and prepare it. Pray to your god, but don’t start the fire.” So they took the bull that was given to them and prepared it. They prayed to Baal from morning until noon, shouting “Baal, answer us!” But there was no sound, and no one answered. They danced around the altar they had built. At noon Elijah began to make fun of them. “Pray louder!” he said. “If Baal really is a god, maybe he is thinking, or busy, or traveling! Maybe he is sleeping so you will have to wake him!” The prophets prayed louder, cutting themselves with swords and spears until their blood flowed, which was the way they worshiped. The afternoon passed, and the prophets continued to act like this until it was time for the evening sacrifice. But no voice was heard; Baal did not answer, and no one paid attention. Then Elijah said to all the people, “Now come to me.” So they gathered around him, and Elijah rebuilt the altar of the LORD, which had been torn down. He took twelve stones, one stone for each of the twelve tribes, the number of Jacob’s sons. (The LORD changed Jacob’s name to Israel.) Elijah used these stones to rebuild the altar in honor of the LORD. Then he dug a ditch around the altar that was big enough to hold about thirteen quarts of seed. Elijah put the wood on the altar, cut the bull into pieces, and laid the pieces on the wood. Then he said, “Fill four jars with water, and pour it on the meat and on the wood.” Then Elijah said, “Do it again,” and they did it again. Then he said, “Do it a third time,” and they did it the third time. So the water ran off the altar and filled the ditch. At the time for the evening sacrifice, the prophet Elijah went near the altar. “LORD, you are the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel,” he prayed. “Prove that you are the God of Israel and that I am your servant. Show these people that you commanded me to do all these things. LORD, answer my prayer so these people will know that you, LORD, are God and that you will change their minds.” Then fire from the LORD came down and burned the sacrifice, the wood, the stones, and the ground around the altar. It also dried up the water in the ditch. When all the people saw this, they fell down to the ground, crying, “The LORD is God! The LORD is God!

Evidence that the pastors of today are prophets of baal.

Mathew 7:16

By their fruit you will
recognize them.

1. They make you pray non-stop

So they took the bull that was given to them
and prepared it. They prayed to Baal from
morning until noon, shouting “Baal, answer
us!” But there was no sound, and no one
answered. They danced around the altar they
had built.

They think the long prayers is what actually pleases and moves God to answering. What could make a man pray from morning until noon? Is it that he has so many prayer points? If no, then such a person could be involved in repitition of the prayer points, a thing christ adviced against.

New American Standard
Bible
Mathew 6:7

"And when you are
praying, do not use
meaningless repetition as
the Gentiles do, for they
suppose that they will be
heard for their many
words.

Praying about thesame points over and over again, like these prophets would want you to, makes it seem like God can't hear us, which is not so.

New Living Translation

1 john 5:15

And since we know he
hears us when we make
our requests, we also know
that he will give us what we
ask for.

Also, calling the name of jesus 3 times like "in jesus name", "in jesus name", "in jesus name" is another form of repitition which must be done away with. Why call his name 3 times when he doesn't need you to do it even once before he hears and answers you?

New International
Version

Isaiah 65:24

Before they call I will
answer; while they are still
speaking I will hear.

He even knows what you need before you ask, so no need to call 3 times.

New Living Translation

Mathew 6:8

Don't be like them, for your
Father knows exactly what
you need even before you
ask.

When hannah prayed for a child, it was recorded that she prayed only once that day and when she was done she ate and her face become radiant. That shows that she believed she had been heard. Before the year was out, hannah concieved and had a son 1 samuel 1:9-20

2. They make you pray louder

The prophets prayed louder, cutting
themselves with swords and spears until their
blood flowed, which was the way they
worshiped.

Have you ever been in a congregation where the members are told to pray at the top of their voice? To what ends? The false prophets make their congregation believe they won't be heard by God if they keep their voice low while praying. When these false prophets pray, even with the use of a microphone connected to large loud speakers, they still scream, creating a deafening sound. Praying loud or louder is tantamount to saying that God is deaf which is not so.

King James Bible
Isaiah 59:1

Behold, the LORD'S hand is
not shortened, that it
cannot save; neither his
ear heavy, that it cannot
hear:

These prophets are no different from the prophets of baal, for they also pray louder. God deals with the content of the heart as can be seen from the way hannah prayed. She prayed in such a way that her lips couldn't utter any sound but moved in a way that made Eli the priest think she was drunk. Hear her response below:

“Oh no, sir!” she replied. “I haven’t been
drinking wine or anything stronger. But I am
very discouraged, and I was pouring out my
heart to the LORD. Don’t think I am a
wicked woman! For I have been praying out of
great anguish and sorrow.”

Once you have a situation that bothers your heart, say it in prayer and not in a loud manner cos God is not deaf.

Mathew 6:6

But when you
pray, go into your room, close the door and
pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your
Father, who sees what is done in secret, will
reward you.

The highlighted part of the above verse shows that making loud noise is not what enables God to hear our prayers, cos if such is the case, christ won't have made mention of observing privacy when praying. Praying aloud is not private and doesn't guarantee answers, cos hannah didn't pray aloud but got answered, elijah didn't pray aloud but got answered, jesus didn't teach us to pray aloud when he taught us the lord's prayer - “This, then, is how you should pray: mathew 6:9-13"

Read the way Elijah prayed and was answered:

“LORD, you
are the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel,” he
prayed. “Prove that you are the God of Israel
and that I am your servant. Show these people
that you commanded me to do all these
things. LORD, answer my prayer so these
people will know that you, LORD, are God and
that you will change their minds.”

After he finished praying, which was very short and not loud, his prayer got answered with a fire.

Then fire from the LORD came down and
burned the sacrifice, the wood, the stones,
and the ground around the altar. It also dried
up the water in the ditch. When all the
people saw this, they fell down to the ground,
crying, “The LORD is God! The LORD is God!

3. They prove Yahweh is greater than baal

They prove it with their actions and baal's inbility to save them from their calamity. Below are characteristics of their god baal highlighted:

If Baal really is a god,
maybe he is thinking, or busy, or traveling!
Maybe he is sleeping so you will have to wake
him!”

he is thinking: this shows baal to be a god suffering from indecision. The fact that he ended up not heeding their call at the time they needed him the most shows how much of a failure he is. Can such be said of Jehovah? No.

New International
Version
Psalm 34:17

The righteous cry out, and
the LORD hears them; he
delivers them from all their
troubles.

You might have instances where you have God not answering your prayers. His actions are always due to certain reasons. Your request in the prayer might not be what's best for you, so He doesn't grant it. Imagine, as a kid you asked your dad to buy you a live lion so you can play with it as a pet in your room, do you think he will heed your request? No. At times, our request are what's best for us, but we don't always get them the very moment we ask cos God sees it that we are not yet ripe for such achievements. It's just like the case of a little boy requesting for a car to drive to school from his dad. Such dad won't grant it immediately till the boy has come to the age that permits him to drive.

he is busy or travelling: their god baal is always busy or distracted to have time to answer their prayers, so they have to scream, shout and pray aloud before he thinks about answering them. Can such be said of Jehovah? No!

New International
Version
Psalm 34:17

The righteous cry out, and
the LORD hears them; he
delivers them from all their
troubles.

he sleeps: baal slept off when his people needed him the most. Can such be said of Jehovah?

New Living Translation
Psalm 121:4

Indeed, he who watches
over Israel never slumbers
or sleeps.

New International
Version
Proverbs 15:13

The eyes of the LORD are
everywhere, keeping watch
on the wicked and the
good.

4. They make you shout

So they took the bull that was given to them
and prepared it. They prayed to Baal from morning until noon, shouting “Baal, answer
us!” But there was no sound, and no one
answered. They danced around the altar they
had built.

Have you ever wondered why you felt so tired when you got home from church? The reason is mostly because you were made to shout too much at the service and got no result, even none you could see. Shouting when praying makes you no different from the prophets of baal especially when you got no result like them. Also, why shout AMEN when you can say it calmly or in your mind? Shouting of AMEN, as if that's what will make them heard and answered, is one of those practices of baal worshipers that has crept into the christian fold today

They prayed to Baal from morning until noon, shouting “Baal, answer
us!”

Jesus did shout, but what happened afterwards? A dead man came back to life.

New Living Translation

John 11:43-44

Then Jesus shouted, “Lazarus, come out!”
And the dead man came out, his hands and
feet bound in graveclothes, his face wrapped
in a headcloth. Jesus told them, “Unwrap him
and let him go!

The israelites did shout, what was their result? The walls of jericho fell down and they took the city.

New International Version
 joshua 6:20

When the trumpets
sounded, the army
shouted, and at the sound
of the trumpet, when the
men gave a loud shout, the
wall collapsed; so everyone
charged straight in, and
they took the city.

What result did your pastor get after shouting, even when he had a voice enhancing instrument called microphone?

Stay away from the babylonian christendom and seek ye the truth. God bless.

New International version

 Revelations 18:4

Then I heard another voice
from heaven say: "'Come
out of her, my people,' so
that you will not share in
her sins, so that you will
not receive any of her
plagues;
